What I liked

I was in hospital for 6 weeks with pericarditis. The first 2 weeks of which was in the ICU unit. This unit must be one of the best places anywhere.The care was amazing, the staff were the kindest and most professional you could find anywhere. Nothing was too much trouble. I wasn't conscious for quite a few days, but all my relatives and friends confirmed their dedication and have continued to say how wonderful everyone was. I have spent an awful lot of time in hospitals with a member of my family and have never come across this level of care anywhere, from cleaners, reception, nurses and all levels of doctors.Obviously the level of staff per patient is very important in maintaining this standard, no private hospital could have been better. The friendliness, morale and team working was outstanding. No one being admitted to this ward should be in any doubt about the quality of care. I really can't find the words to to thank them. They saved my life. I spent the next four weeks on the dialysis ward,Carrell, again the care was very good, but obviously the level of nursing staff was much less and everyone worked very hard to get everything done, including helping to feed people, which they did happily. I can't thank them enough for their care and kindness, they could certainly benefit from more staff so that they're not rushed off their feet. It seems that unfortunately this has to be a mixed sex ward and does not even have separate sections so that you can have men either side of you and opposite to you which can be quite disconcerting. This is not of course a reflection on the staff, but it would be a big improvement if it was possible to have separate areas.
