About: Frenchay Hospital

What I liked

the Drs were ok

What could be improved

everything

Anything else?

the worst experience of my life unapproachable & uncaring staff, dirty ward, incompetent staff and unfriendly staff resulting in my husband getting no post op care no advice or pain relief he was left and ignored after a nasty painful operation I was appauled by the lack of care and communication both my husband & I were given even though we were miles from home and family dealing with a traumatic painful burn resulting in skin graft. he had to deal with 2 hours of excruciating & unnecessary pain at our local hospital in torbay because a so called specialist nurse put the wrong dressing on his skin graft causing it to stick so bad it took 2hours to get it off. we were given no advice when leaving the ward on how to deal with his wounds and given inadequate painkillers for the injuries he had. It was an awful experience resulting in me not being able to eat or sleep for worry and seeing my poor husband put through this unnecessary pain. To top it all we have a 4 hour drive there & back tomorrow for a dressing change. We really do not want to go back there and want his care referred back to Torbay where the Dr & nurse we saw were appauled & shocked by our experience at frenchay hospital especially as we were referred there because they are the so called specialists.

Dear Anonymous - I am very sorry that your husband and yourself had such a poor experience when visiting Plastics at Frenchay Hospital recently at what was understandably a very anxious time.

Unfortunately it is not possible to comment on the detail of your husband’s care or why his experience was so poor without having the information to review his care. For the same reason I cannot comment on if it would be appropriate to try and arrange for your husband to be referred back to Torbay. If you could provide me with his written consent to investigate and his full details at complaints@nbt.nhs.uk I will be happy to undertake an investigation in to your concerns and provide you with details of any action the Hospital can take to learn the lessons and ensure other patients do not have a repeat experience.

Kind Regards – Steve Sykes
