"Terrible care from people who are there to help..."

What could be improved

I got my husband to drop me off at A & E at Medway hospital on his way to work at 7am on a day in March as I was in terrible pain and couldn't sit down due to a large lump and pain on my tailbone and I knew there was something really wrong. The A & E department was empty and I went up to reception crying in pain and the receptionist couldn't understand me and when I asked to lie down she kept saying no you must sit, which I couldn't do. I stood waiting for the nurse to see me and she came out took my details and then told me to go and sit out in the waiting room again. Once again I said I can't sit down please can I lie down somewhere and was told no you must sit. By this stage the pain was unbearable and couldn't believe that they couldn't find me somewhere to lie down. I rang my husband to come and get me, and I went to Maidstone hospital A& E where I could lie down until I was seen by the doctor who said that I needed surgery that night on an abscess on my tailbone. The help from all the staff and the treatment I received at Maidstone Hospital was fantastic compared to Medway. I would never recommend Medway Hospital and the receptionist on duty that day really shouldn't be in a health environment where empathy should be a priority, when taking my details she had to ask me to spell everything, asked me keep repeating the information I was giving her and when you are in pain this is just unacceptable.
