What I liked
The staff at this hospital are very respectful and caring. As a cancer patient suffering from treatment side effects and mental distress caused by my diagnosis and symptoms, I have received huge benefits from my regular visits to my Consultant and have been supported by the team in the Homeopathic hospital in a way that is not possible for other areas of the NHS (splendid in other ways!) to provide. When one is suffering from a complicated and lengthly serious medical condition, and the profound effects this has on ones life, it is very uplifting to have access to an organisation which can consider ones mental distress and other far-reaching side effects and deal with these in a long-term, joined-up way.
Whatever your individual belief in the 'proven nature' of homeopathic treatments, when up against hugely negative health circumstances and crushing despair, having access to these services and the additional help they can give is fantastic. I was lucky enough to be referred by my GP; my financial circumstances (like many people living with cancer for years) were not great and I could never have afforded to seek out such help on my own. Yet my treatment at this centre was a huge support to me, enabled me to manage my symptoms and eventually go back to work.
Please do not close this hospital; it provides help to those in dire straites who often have few other support options available. The Oncology Centre themselves sometimes call on the Homeopathic Hospital for help with patients who need extra support....they know it can work for people and is a valuable service indeed.
What could be improved
More funding so not such long waiting lists to get an appointment?
"A great facility. Supportive and helpful..."
