"Infection in Elbow resulted in stay at Good Hope Hospital"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as the patient),

As a result of scratching the dry skin on my elbow, I was admitted to hospital and put on an antibiotic drip.

My elbow swelled up and I went to Good Hope A&E, after seeing four doctors each one more senior, I was told that I had Cellulitis. I thought this was very professional as the last doctor I saw was at 3am and they wanted me diagnosed asap rather than waiting till the next morning.

They transferred me to a ward and I was put on an antibiotic drip for four days. All of the doctors and nurses have been great. I wasn't too keen on my sandwich, but did appreciate I was given it at midnight so guess it had gone soggy during the day.
