What I liked

My son, required surgery for a cracked eye socket - he was referred by the Sunderrland eye clinic. He is a student at Durham University and our home is in Switzerland. We travelled to the UK to be with him for his operation. My wife and I were very impressed with the level of care at the hospital. The nurses were professional while showing great concern for my son's physical and emotional wellbeing. The eye doctor from the eye clinic explained the operation very carefully and made a point of seeing my son and us before the operation to ask if we had any worries or concerns. The after care was excellent and the nurses looked after my son with cheerful humour and genuine concern. Living in a country (Switzerland) which is renowned for its medical services, we were very impressed with Sunderland Royal Hospital. Thank you.

What could be improved

It would have been good for the surgeon who performed the operation to speak to my son afterwards about how the operation went and whether he had any questions. He is a footballer and the complete recovery of his vision is very imprtant to him.
