"So disappointed not to be able to have my second eye done"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I had a cataract operation in January of this year on my right eye. It was brilliant, I couldn't believe the difference. I went back to the opticians who put me forward for the other eye. I was so excited - it seemed like a miracle to me! In May, the criteria changed and I was told that as I had one good eye, I was not entitled to have the second done.

I was so disappointed. I'd picked up a leaflet in the medical centre eye department which said that you'd only need to leave 3 months-6 months between the operations for each eye. I still cannot drive at night without my other eye being done - I am so disappointed that I thought I would be able to have both done. I don't know what to do.
