"Long wait for ambulance and doctor after a stroke"

About: North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust West Cumberland Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

one morning mum had a stroke but didnt know, slurred speech arm not working properly, The doctor was rung and after hed finished his surgery he called 1 hour later. He had rang an ambulance at 13:00 and left, telling Dad if she get worse call 999. Dad paced the room worried sick, a lady called from the ambulance service and said sorry they have been busy this was 15:00 but someone will come in next 30mins. Mum was really upset and scared.we all were. The ambulance arrived at 15:40. She and I have always believed being prompt saved lives in the case of a stroke. Mum was seen by a&e staff then transfered to a ward. When she was seen by a doctor on the ward at 18:00, they said if she was there earlier they could have given her something...I was gob smacked.
