"Pointless appointment"

About: Freeman Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I attended a Rheumotology appt at the Freeman, having been referred by my GP. When I arrived at the hospital, the doctor's immediate reaction was "well we need a current blood test to check that" and sent me round for that. I think this was a complete waste of his time and mine. If a receptionist could have notified me that he would need a current set of blood results (and it seemed to be obvious) I could have had those done at my GP a few days before and we could have discussed the results at the appointment instead.

I've never understood the talk of "efficiency savings" until now...
