"Good job by all concerned"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

What I liked

The specialist was very helpful, clearly explaining the scan technique and possible outcomes, and has now provided a very clear summary of the outcome and proposed follow up.

The staff in the MRI suite who perfomed the scans were all that could be hoped for: cheerful, helpful and efficient. The appointment was kept on time, and there was good advice about comfort during the scan.

Anything else?

The route from main entrance to the MRI suite is not the most user-friendly, but is a consequence of the dated construction and piecemeal additions. Until there's the political will to renew this hospital in Central Herts this has to be accepted....

Many thanks for your feedback on the MRI service at the QEII - we know that the staff involved will enjoy reading your feedback, which we will make sure reaches them quickly.

You're also right about the access to the hospital's MRI service being a bit hard to follow, which reflects the way that the QEII has expanded over the years. The good news is that the local primary care trust - NHS Hertfordshire - has advanced plans in place that will see a brand new QEII hospital being built by the end of 2013/early 2014 that will provide the local community with a comprehensive outpatients and diagnostic service, as well as ante/post natal and local A&E services. Such a new build will, inevitably, get rid of many of these access issues.
