"Confusing reminders not needed"

About: Devon Access and Referral Team (DART)

(as other),

I am speaking on behalf of an elderly patient whom was expecting to be offered an appointment at either Royal Devon & Exeter or Musgrove Park Hospitals. Eventually she actually was given an appointment and seen at Sidmouth Hospital.

For some reason the system doesn't seem recognise that she has been allocated an appointment and she has now received two reminders which is causing her anxiety and confusion.

Dear ‘0407bj’,

Thank you for writing and letting us know about the problem. Unfortunately, this is an automatically generated letter and we don’t always know when they’re being sent out.

If you would like to phone our Patient Helpdesk on 01626 883888 we can go into your friend’s record and switch off the reminder so they won’t receive anymore. The Helpdesk is open Monday to Friday, 9 until 5.

Please accept our apologies, we do realise the distress that this can cause and try to stop them whenever we can but it is not within our control to be able to stop them altogether.

Best wishes,

Susan
