"A substandard hospital making no attempt..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

Doctors to stop behaving as if they were gods.

Certainly more maturity need by the doctor I saw. Having totally misunderstood what had been said to him he became immature and unable to resolve the situation. Absolutely refused to shake my hand and totally relied on the nurse to end the appointment.

It is about time a feedback form was given to patients so that before locums are employed a true picture of their suitability for the post would depend on the patients they serve. This particular locum could not explain the problem or how to deal with it. When he got out of his depth his only response was to end the meeting.

PALS were contacted by the nursing staff and yet again were unavailable. It makes you wonder what they really do as they are not interested in looking after patients or their concerns. In my opinion a complete waste of space. Although I have just been informed that they are now quality control. i.e. a management tool - nothing more.

Anything else?

It seems as if St Mary's Hospital treats island patients with contempt knowing full well that most cannot afford to travel across the water for superior treatment. Shame on the Board and the Chief Executive for allowing the substandard treatment of patients to continue.
