"Operation on a cyst on my finger"

I'm absolutely delighted with the service I got from Rotherham District General. All the staff who cared for me, before and after the surgery, were brilliant.

The check in staff double checked details with the surgeon, I was so impressed with the thoroughness.

I did have to wait a long time, almost 5 hours from my appointment time until I was operated on, and I had been advised by the anaesthetist not to eat before my appointment or during the wait so I was hungry. The procedure only took 20 minutes.

When I first arrived I did enquire where I was in the waiting list - 3rd I was told. They take the generals in before the locals. I did feel at times that I have been forgotten about but in general the care was excellent.

Thank you for your posting and for your overall positive comments about the care you received in Rotherham Hospital.

I will make sure the team in General Surgery see your comments.

Clearly I am concerned to hear you felt at times as though you had been forgotten about and that you had a lengthy wait in the unit before you were operated on. As you can appreciate, we try our hardest to manage our operating lists to time but it does depend on circumstances on the day and if any additional emergency surgery is required. It is unfortunate, however, that you did not feel as if you were kept informed and if you would like to call Patient Services on 01709 424461 we can take more information and see if there is anything for us to learn from your experience.
