"Disagreement over c-section"

About: University College Hospital

(as the patient),

I am 37 weeks pregnant (and over 40) and have been looked after UCH maternity unit since week 15.

Due to physical and emotional issues, at 30 weeks I was offered by a consultant a c-section to be had at 38 weeks. I accepted the offer there and then and was looking forward to it.

In the past 7 weeks I've met 2 different doctors who in turn have tried to discourage me, in a very patronising and condescending way. I feel that they have come up with all sort of excuses and haven't taken into consideration the reasons why I was offered it in the first place.

Each time they would see me (3 times in total) they would behave if it was the first time, asking me to go through my case and repeat the same things over and over again. Neither of them has visited me, and checked the physical condition I am in. They just did not seem interested.

Yesterday, after much persistence I managed to get a date and book the delivery by c-section, however, the doctor booked it 4 days before my due date saying that it was the only time available. Although I will be in week 40 with a good possibility of going into labour before then, the doctor would not change the date and completely ignored my pleas.

I found all the meetings extremely upsetting and patronising and feel that these two doctors did not have my best interests in mind but just their own. If I could, I would change hospital but I fear it is too late now.
