What I liked

I have had both my hips replaced this year - one in February, the other in June. On both occasions I was treated extremely well and could find no fault with the Hospital. From the time I arrived at the Same Day Admissions Unit, having the operation and being admitted to Tye Green Ward the care and professionalism of all the staff was excellent. Tye Green Ward was exceptionally clean and the food was good.

What could be improved

The frustration of being cancelled several times and the delay when the pain is acute is not a happy experience. Arriving at the Same Day Admissions Unit and getting prepared for the operation to be performed in 15 minutes and then being sent home 2 hours later due to a bed shortage is not a good experience.

Anything else?

I would like to thank the Consultant and his team for replacing my hips and giving me back my life again having been very immobile and in pain for several months. My grateful thanks to the anaethetists, theatre staff, the staff of Tye Green Ward. Also not forgetting all staff at the Princess Alexandra Hospital who all strive to make the hospital run smoothly.

We are very sorry to hear that you had your operational cancelled on more than one occasion. We recognise this is an area we need to address and are working hard to put processes and practices in place to try and reduce the likelihood of this happening in the future.
