"The care and treatment I received at..."

About: St James's University Hospital

What I liked

I was made welcome on arrival and introduced to the nurses who would be looking after me.

On the morning of the operation the surgeon visited and explained what the procedure would be and asked if I had any questions. His manner was friendly and reassuring and I felt in safe hands.

A few minutes later the anaesthetist arrived and explained her role in an equally reassuring way.

After the operation the nurses in the High Dependancy Unit were always available.

During my 5 day stay all the doctors, nurses, catering staff and porters were friendly and what I feared would be a traumatic experience was actually quite pleasant.

Perhaps my taste buds are less developed than some of the other commentators on here, but I found the food good with a good choice on the menu.

I have since returned as an outpatient and again the staff were excellent.

What could be improved

The only problem I suffered was sleeping because the ward was a bit too warm for me.
