"Good care but diarrhoea + sickness didn't help my recovery"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

I was satisfied with the care I got especially by the doctors, my only complaint is I was put in Ward A6 which everyone has diarrhoea and sickness which they kew about. It made me really ill and didn't help my recovery. Everyone was old and vunerable, the food was not up to scratch.

Dear chat 314

Thank you for your posting and for your feedback. We are obviously sorry to hear about your experiences and would appreciate it if you would call us at Patient Services on 01709 424461 so we can understand in more detail what happened and what we can learn.

As a general principle, once we have identified an outbreak we close the bay to new admissions however diarrheoa and sickness is highly contagious so we can only apologise that you had to suffer this on top of your original admitting illness and hope it didn’t delay your recovery.

On the other note, we have done a lot of work regarding food so are disappointed to hear your experience – where individual patients raise concerns we aim to act there and then to ensure they get something they can enjoy eating so again apologies if this did not happen in your case.

If you feel able, please call Patient Services on 01709 424461 and we can look into your concerns in more detail and make sure we learn from your experience.

With best wishes
