What I liked

Brilliant A&E consultant who handled my treatment with clear communication and confident treatment in a most professional manner. The nursing staff were pleasant, conscientious and again very professional.

I only had to wait for 15 minutes before being treated (mainly luck as the department became extremely busy a couple of hours later). However the processing and prioritising of cases according to degree of emergency was most impressive. Whilst having to wait for treatment can be frustrating I can appreciate that there is a limit to the flexibility of manpower available.

I can only praise the whole of the staff of A&E at The Royal Cornwall based on my experience

What could be improved

Car parking charges for the families of emergency and long term patients are ridiculous. I spurned the offer of an ambulance as it seemed more efficient (and speedy) for my wife to drive me to the hospital. It cost £12.00 by the time I was released 5 hours later. A lady we met in the car park had spent £50 in one week visiting her critically ill husband. Surely there should be some concessions according to circumstances.
