"Physio out patients sessions was very..."

About: Guy's Hospital

What I liked

I was referred here for my painful back to the physio department out patients. And a group of us use to work in this big physio centre with machines and physiotherapists on 8 week sessions and they advised us about our bodies, endorphins and cells etc. How to exercise correctly, they have two machines, bike and walking one. and we also did floor exercises and use of the medicine ball I think they call it. They gave us a booklet with all the exercises in as well so that we could do them at home, accept for the machine ones of course. I think they had 3 different sessions a week at different times and you could pick the session and day which suited you best, but once picked they advised to stay with that time and day each week. I used to go at 5.30pm on Mondays and it lasted for an hour. Plus on top I think it helped with my weight slightly as well as to gentle physical exercise.

What could be improved

More longer term physio and exercises there, instead of an 8 week cut off point. Even maybe if they had a special membership for people. But then I guess with so many new people coming it could become over crowded. Or maybe have more sessions every day, that way people can have longer sessions. If the doctor referred me to that again I would return and do it all over again. or maybe include swimming sessions for exercises in water on top for those people that may be interested on top of the physio.

Anything else?

I liked this department and found them friendly and helpful. Once I pulled a muscle in my upper back and the therapist told me what to do to ease the pain.
