"EAU is a disgrace but ASU is outstanding"

About: New Cross Hospital

What I liked

The staff on the Acute Stroke Unit are fantastic and are devoted to their job.

What could be improved

Well a lot,

Not to lose personal belongings

To not leave a drink away from a patient who is unable to get the drink and go all day without a drink

Keep the next of kin informed of anything that is happening

Anything else?

I am disgusted with EAU my dad was admitted and very extremly poorly and to lose his personal belongings is an absolute disgrace. Also when he was transferred to another hospital which was miles away we were never informed that he had left the hospital after the doc and nurse stressed to us that we would be informed as soon as the transfer was taking place. We eventually found out he was transfered the next day when we rang EAU. THis shouldn't be happening and i always thought New Cross was a good hospital after experiencing EAU i am so disgusted and think nurses on there should concentrate on their patients instead of their personal life. Several family members asked for help from a nurse at the main desk and it took over 10 minutes for a nurse to come as they were having conservations which shouldn't be taking place when there is a ward of ill patients who need care. By the time the nurse came it was too late.

On a good note when he was transferred back after his operation to New Cross the staff on the Acute Stroke Unit are amazing and are devoted to their jobs. They really encouraged my dad to get better and spent time with him. THey were fantastic when we enquired about him on the telephone, and were always phoning up with updates on how he was getting on. THis was reassuring as i was petrified to know that he was back at New Cross after being on EAU.
