What I liked

My Daughter had a difficult birth. She ended up having an epidural, nearly a cesarean and the baby was born 8lb 11 with fawcepts. She could not dialate and it took forever for the midwives and doctors to get her to arrive at 10cm, but she got there in the end, but had to stay in hospital for 2 days due to the baby tearing her considerably. In all the time she was in labour, we saw a few midwives as the shifts changed and each one, including the doctor were absolutely excellent. They were informative, caring, professional and gentle. Although she was having a lot of problems, she did not realise, as the doctor and the midwives were very reassuring and so helpful to all of us. We had been really concerned about going to this hospital after reading comments and the bad press they have received, but for us, they were totally unfounded. Thank you very much to all at Maternity!!!

What could be improved

The midwives who were looking after her whilst she recovered for were very unsympathetic and totally lacked empathy. My advice is..... Have the baby and make sure they send you home the same day!

Anything else?

The husband or family cannot stay. I understand that it may not suit the ward, but it would be so much better for the new mum to have someone there. This can be a daunting experience for some and this would really help.

Although I have some negative comments, they are slightly superficial, when, at the time when we needed professional help at the most important time, it was faultless, thank you.
