"Completely Satisfactory, would be happy..."

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

What I liked

Ward Cleanliness

Staff competence, attitude & pleasantness

Consultant and Anaesthetist attitude

Not having to stay overnight

Same gender ward

Toilets everywhere!

Follow up OP appointment was quick (within 2 weeks) and the consultant cleared up my remaining queries fully and clearly.

What could be improved

The surrounding areas (corridors, and external areas) were undergoing building repair and construction which made me feel slightly uneasy as i entered the hospital. However, as i entered the ward there was no sign of any of this, the ward felt isolated from it and was clean and quiet.

Prior to my visit my only complaints are that i was mis-informed about waiting times and not seen by the consultant who would perform my surgery. The person i saw (a physiotherapist) described a 6-8 week waiting time, i was eventually operated on after 14 weeks and not by the consultant i had originally been scheduled to see. I don't consider this to now be a problem as the consultant i now see i have full confidence in.

Anything else?

I was seen in May 2011 for a daycase procedure requiring a general anaesthetic (arthroscopy of the knee). I checked in at 11am and was discharged at about 8pm. The ward was clean and quiet and at no point did i feel dissatisfied with how i was treated by any member of staff, and i saw quite a few! I would be happy to recommend both the hospital and the surgeon based on my experiences.
