"Cancer scare"

I am a fit and healthy male, non smoker work hard and don't abuse the system. I had off the scale cholesterol readings and my Doctor monitored this over a period of time. After numerous blood tests she decided to send me to have an Ultra sound scan.

Had it done on a Thursday, got a call from the Doctor on Friday telling me I have a large shadow in my liver and it may be secondary cancer. I was going on holiday to Spain the following week for a short break. She told me to cancel as I may well be in Manchester Royal Infirmary by the Tuesday. As it happens I received an appointment to see the Renal Registrar 10 days hence so I could still go away. Within 9 days I had seen the Registrar, the Professor and given loads of blood , had 2 CT scans and an MRI scan. I was given the all clear a few days ago as it turned out to be 3 'hemangiomas'. To have one is semi rare, to have two is very rare but to have three makes me unique. Non of the medical team have ever seen three. The are akin to Port wine stains on the skin except in the liver formed as golf ball sized growths but not harmful in any way.

The staff from start to finish were exemplary in the way they handled me, from the nurses that took my blood, to the lovely stressed receptionists who take verbal abuse from the abusers of the system, right up to the Mr.Kochar , Dr Prince and his team and not forgetting the fantastic Radiology team. My life could have had a different ending but I wouldn't have swapped the way I was dealt with for all the Tea in China.

They were wonderful and I will never be able to truly show my gratitude to them.
