"Extremely happy with facilities & care...."

About: Colchester General Hospital

What I liked

From the time I arrived at the hospital all the staff weather nurses, doctors or orderlies were always helpful friendly & efficient. My procedure was a bladder neck incision, so I was teated in a very private area of my body & potentially quite embarrassing. But even after the opperation when I had no control of my bladder & the catheta continually leaked (my bed needing changing 6/7 times) the nurses were so reassuring & caring it was amazing.

What could be improved

The day after my op. in the morning 2 Doctors came to see me, they explained that the op. went well & there was no problem with the prostate (therefore reassuring). But that was the only time Doctors attended , then later that day I was told by anurse that I could leave the next morning. When I left Hospital I was still unable to control my bladder & although I was told this is quite normal & would improve. There was no information given to me with regard to how long I could expect to remain incontinent. Also although I was told the op. went well my condition is still as it was prior to theop. & I have been given no info. as to wether the benefits will take time to show, no mention as to weather I should report to my GP. & no information as to any follow up. Hence I am left feeling a little confused & a little concerned as to weather or not there will be any improvement in my condition. P.S. the incontinence has stopped.
