What I liked
I was treated at Charing Cross Hospital following a serious road accident which left me bed bound for an extended period. I also had several operations to correct a number of broken bones.
During my long stay I was given the best care imaginable by a team of skilled and compassionate staff. Everyone I met, doctors, domestics, nurses and administrative staff was courteous, respectful and professional.
Despite being seriously injured I experienced minimal pain during my illness as I was provided with excellent pain relief. The pain nurses visited me almost as soon as I arrived and the staff monitored the effectiveness of the pain medication expertly. When I was very dependent there were always sufficient staff available to ensure that I could be washed and positioned with the minimum of discomfort.
The ward was new and extremely clean, I was in a bay with several other patients but the staff made sure that privacy was always available when it was needed.
I understand that not everyone who needs NHS services has such a positive experience however I genuinely believe that no amount of money could have bought better care than I received at this hospital.
What could be improved
The menu could have been improved a little bit as it got slightly monotonous. That aside, the food was plentiful and generally of good quality.
"Really good!"
