About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute)

What I liked

Very few of the staff are in the job because they care about people. Those few are saints and its a sham that they are tarred with the same brush.

What could be improved

The attitude of the staff. if you dont care about the health and well being of other people dont go into nursing, its as simple as that! Doctors giving their 'thoughts and opinions' on illness's that they clearly know nothing about. My partner was woken up at 3.00am by a doctor who asked him if he was having trouble sleeping! This same doctor told him he had had a rib removed - she hadnt even looked at his notes! If i hadnt have been in the hospital to care for him then he wouldnt have been looked after at all. he feinted several times but the staff didnt know about it because they werent looking out for him. One occassion i was there when he feinted i called a nurse over to tell him and every staff member from the ward came over. On the same day he was in agony where he had been given an injection, i asked for a nurse to come and have a look, he came over and said 'What are you moaning about now' In particular one ward, the majority of staff on this ward are horrible, they treat the eldery very badly. The time it take for notes to be typed and filied and then sent to the relevant doctor ahead of his patients coming into to see him. My Partner went to see a doctor who told him he couldnt hep him as he hadnt received his notes...after 3 weeks of being discharged! A trip into A&E more than 2 weeks ago, we were told someone from the Pain team would call us with advise........ we are still waiting for that call.

Anything else?

Its no wonder the NHS is in the state it is! Should have more people with common sense working in them!
