I had a hysterectomy and was in a side ward. My nursing care was generally excellent except for one evening.
I woke up thinking I must have accidentally wet myself or something as the bed was very wet. I switched on the light to find the bed - and quite a bit of the room - covered with blood as I'd accidentally knocked the needle out of my arm.
I buzzed for a nurse - who shouted at me, asked me if I knew their bum had just sat down for a cup of tea, and who roughly cleaned me up. The nurses' colleague said nothing throughout but appeared to be quite shocked at this reaction, given I'd apologised and pointed out I hadn't actually meant to do it. Other than that though, the nursing care was excellent. I believe we have an excellent health service and should fight hard to protect it - and remove those nurses who do not practice nursing with compassion.
