"why did my daughter's diagnosis take so long?"

About: North Manchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

In march 2011, my daughter was advised to go to A & E at N.M.G.H. ( Crumpsall) for advice on terrible back and chest pains. She was told nothing was wrong and given pain relief then sent home. This happened about 4/5 times over the next few weeks, always getting the same answer," can't find anything,"

At the beginning of May my daughter vomited a fair sized clot & I told her to take it to the hospital. She was kept in for 4 days - & told to come back for an Endoscopy a few days later, which she did, and was then allowed home although still in a lot of pain, which continued for the next 3 days.

She had not been given any information about what was wrong or may be causing the pain & vomiting. I arranged for her to go back on 3 days after the endoscopy & the Dr who saw her admitted her to ward H3 (MEU), she was so anaemic, they had to give 3 bags of blood before any bloods could be taken for tests!

Eventually she was told that she had lots of ulcers in her stomach, needs 5 iron infusions, injections of vitamin B12, special diet & a C T scan. Why has it taken so long and caused so much pain and worry? Who can I ask for answers? Can you please advise me?
