"I had gone in miserable and came out happy due to brilliant treatment"

About: Queen's Medical Centre / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

Awoke one day last week with something in my eye. Not very painful but irritating. When it hadn't gone by mid afternoon I decided to go to the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham Eye Centre Casualty Dept.

I was seen almost immediately by the Triage Nurse Maureen. She was so friendly and helpful and gave me a short vision test on the usual letters on a screen.

I was then moved to another area nearby and waited about 30 minutes. I was then called in to see Lionel a Nurse Practioner. He was so kind and seemed so happy. He immediately put me at ease and we chatted for a short while whilst he was inspecting my eye. He had a bit of trouble finding anything but then found that I had got a build up of concretions in the lower eye lid. He told me that it was a similar build up of calcium like you can get with gall stones. He scraped it out with no pain or distress to me. He showed me what he'd got out and let me feel it.

Overall a really good experience which I expected to be unpleasant. The girl in pharmacy was also very good and I had a cup of tea and the prescription was ready before I had finished.I was out of the hospital in two hours.

I had gone in miserable and came out happy due to brilliant treatment by kind, nice and skilful staff. Thank you
