"Heart attack - delay in care"

About: Rotherham Hospital / General surgery Rotherham PCT Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as a relative),

My husband rang the GP surgery to say I had chest pains, he was put through to the practice nurse. The nurse asked if I had pains down my arm, the pain was in my jaw. I was asked to make my way down to the surgery, even though I was in great discomfort. I waited to see the doctor, who told me that she had rung for an ambulance because I had presented with chest pain. I had an ECG, which showed I was having a heart attack. The ambulance arrived and I was rushed to hospital where I had an operation to have a stent put in. My care from the ambulance men through to the doctors and nurses was excellent, very caring and professional. If there were any changes I would make, it would be to the GP practice nurse, who I feel should have have advised my husband to call 999.
