"I found the reception staff very rude"

About: King George Hospital

(as a friend),

I had to take my friend to the hospital as he had torn ligaments in his foot. I had to go up to the reception and tell them his details as he couldnt stand up and walk over.

The person behind the counter asked if i knew all of his details to which i replied "most of them". I answered every question politely and then they asked "who is your friends next of kin". Being 17, I asked them what a kin is... I felt like they then looked down their nose at me and spoke in an aggressive manor saying "i thought you knew all of his details, can you go find out who is".

As i walked away i heard the person say to the people behind me "sorry, it never usually takes this long, you know what some people are like".

I would like to know why this person considers it ok to talk to me like this, as if she is of any more importance as me or anyone else.

In my experience, most of the hospital staff I've encountered have been rude and I think that the goverment's tight budgets are contributing to this. Regardless, as I see it having a job at the moment is a privilledge as we have as a country so many out of work. I think this staff member should be grateful to be sitting in that chair.
