"I feel that I am cheated by the nurses"

About: Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I am currently a patient in hospital with bipolar disorder.

When I first came into hospital, I went in voluntarily. I made a request, which was not answered and I was shut in a room. I banged on the door asking the staff to answer my request and they sectioned me instead.

I have not had the opportunity to phone my family. They wanted me to give them the number first which is personal information.

I feel that I am cheated by the nurses as when I am well I am confident but when I’m unwell I’m reclusive. I come to the nurses to talk when I am well and it feels to me that they don’t want to be talked to and say it is because I am being too boisterous.

I also believe that I am being given too much medication.

I am very unhappy that I only have an hour to get my things from home as it will take me more than an hour so it means I can’t get most of my things.
