"Disappointing"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

What I liked

The building is lovely and mostly well kept, some of the staff try really hard

What could be improved

I have had to visit a couple of departments over the time: maternity, A&E and various clinics. I have to say the service you receive seems to be very dependant on who is in charge of the clinic or ward. On the whole most of the staff try hard but I think the organisation of middle management let them down. Simple standards of cleanliness and administration are not kept up to date. With such a wonderful purpose built building its a shame that the staff who work there don't match the quality of the building. A&E seem to be the exception - when something very serious happens they work well.

Anything else?

A complete review of middle managment is needed - how each department is run and why and who by. Sort it out - there are peoples' lives at stake.
