What could be improved
Was turned away repeatedly when I was dialted and having severe contractions. Birthplan was ignored and I had to fight for an epidural. I needed to argue with her (causing even more stress and pain in an already stressful and painful experience) just to get here to see if the doctor was available to give me one and even then she left the room for ages and I was made to wait a very long time for pain relief. Was patronized repeatedly by the head mid-wife and finally got treated with respect when she realized I was in full labour and had been for quite some time. She tried to turn me away yet again but my husband and I insisted on being checked. Forceps were used on me when I stated several times and wrote in my birthplan under no circumstances do I want forceps to be used, a c-section should be ready to be given to me if an emergency arises, as they did in the same emergency for my friend who lives in Canada and as should be done for women in this country. Forceps are a midevil tool and they damaged my childs head, caused her pain and general discomfort. There would have been none of this with a c-section. I left that hospital feeling violated, ignored and patronized.
"Appalling, I was violated, patronized..."
