"It wasn't as a bad experience as anyone..."

About: North Middlesex Hospital

What I liked

It was not my first visit here and I have to say the staff, all the staff, in all occasions were extremely helpful, caring, spontaneous and genuinely concerned about my care.

I am surprised and pleased about how many nice and caring people are working in this hospital from the receptionists to the nurses and surgeons. Bless you all really.

What could be improved

I have had only a very negative experience there regarding hygene while visiting this hospital.

It was with a lady that took a blood sample from me, I do not think it was a nurse but she took really little care for my and her own safety as well.

First of all she took the blood in her office still wearing her own clothes and hasndbag, no gloves were worn also.

After the operation she put some cotton to stop the blood from coming out of my arm, still without gloves, she clearly touched my blood and she rubbed her hand on her dress to clean it off....

She realized she did not have all she needed so she left the siringe with the blood in on her desk, a drop of blood spilled, when back she poured the blood in 3 4 different containers and cleaned the drop of blood on her desk with the cotton I had used to stop the blood on my arm.

She just rubbed off the blood from her desk still without wering gloves and then she disposed of everything including the siringe by putting it in her own bin.

I have to say that was quite shocking compared to the overall quality of the hospital.
