"It was a Terrible visit and I wouldn`t..."

About: Stafford Hospital

What I liked

The Doctors were fine and some of the nurses were ok but basic care is still being ignored.

What could be improved

This Hospital has quite rightly earned it`s reputation. My mum was bought into A&e on 15th March 2011. I came up later after getting the kids to school. When i got there my mum had asked 3 times to go to the Toliet. They only sorted her out when i asked the nurse to get her a bed pan. She had been there since about 6.30am and i got there about 9.30am. My Mum saw a doctor who prescribed her a painkiller. She still hadn`t had it two hours later. Some of the nurses were very nice and the doctor was really nice.

They moved her from the resusitation bay into another part of the Department. She then started feeling sick and having diahorrea and really bad stomach pain and she started to panic so i reassured her like have been doing since i started caring for her ten years ago they came and cleaned her up and then she had another bout of diahorrea after i had asked for a bed pan but all i got was fobbed off and she started to get really upset again so i tried to calm her down again and then a male nurse told me to leave as i was upsetting her. My mum had never seen him before and she was scared because she couldn`t understand what was happening. I felt heartbroken that i had to leave her as she begged the nurse to let me stay. She was still lying in her own diahorrea when i was made to leave.

I had always been a firm believer in the hospital and was skeptical about the reputation as my dad was well treated there and was well looked after and when my mum went on ward 10 to have an operation back in feb she couldn`t have been treated any better.

It`s a lottery in this hospital on what kind of care you are going to get so I wish you the best of Luck. I have lodged an official complaint but I dont hold my breath for a response.
