"Fantastic and wonderful staff, i was..."

About: Wharfedale Hospital

What I liked

Same sex ward, but i had a room to myself which was lovely.

I went for a hernia repair operation.

My surgeon, anesthetist, nurse, and other nurses i met were amazing, they were so friendly, and kind.

I was very well informed of everything going on, my surgeon explained everything to me, then a senior doctor came and checked my tummy again and asked me a few questions, my nurse asked me a few questions and told me some more information, then the anesthetist came and told me more, and agreed with me that i would have gas to go under in theatre, because im terrified of needles! I had an needle when i was asleep so dont remember it.

It was a real pleasure to be treated there, everyone was calm, not too rushed even though they were busy, and took the time to make me feel comfortable.

I hate hospitals, have had bad experiences in the past, hence my needle phobia, and have always associated hospitals with overworked, stressed and angry staff, that ignore you and i have been in such panic and anxiety, but wharfedale was great, and i would love to be treated their everytime.

I also was given water and toast after and offered hot drinks, and my mum was looked after, also the canteen is very cheap and my mum had some breakfast and said it was a full plate and tasty.

I dont believe this was a one of because i had been 3 times previously, two for pre-assessment for myhernia op in a different department and they were all wonderful, giving my son an orange to occupy himself, and very friendly. The previous, first visit was an out of hours doctors appointment, and again they were amazing.

Thankyou for keeping me safe, and my anxiety not get the bettter of me, first hospital visit when i have not been in tears and panicking!

Love Aly

Ps. Although i do hope i dont have to come back for another hernia op, as i hope this op is the last!!

What could be improved

Nothing at all that I can think of...i always have issues with hygiene of hospital cos im terrified of catching something, but i think they should use apple or lemon scented antibacterial cleaner cos it smells good and eases your worries, because it smells/looks clean...very silly comment from me maybe, but i know what i mean!

Anything else?

Thankyou so much for caring for me
