What could be improved

Time-keeping. I can accept a 15 minute wait, but after 45 minutes is it too much to ask for doctors to apologise for the delay? Do they think that no patients work any more?

Anything else?

The doctor did not even introduce himself. He took a mobile phone call just as he was about to do an internal examination, leaving me on the bed with legs akimbo and thoroughly embarrassed. I switched my phone off - why don't doctors when they are dealing intimately with patients?

Gave me a prescription for 3 months' supply of progesterone, but the pharmacy only dispense one month's worth - do doctors and pharmacists not work together?

Having referred me for hysteroscopy, some weeks later, I have just received a phone call the evening before to cancel my appointment because Hertford Hospital does not have the equipment available after all.

I will now have to go back to the GP to get a prescription for the drugs the consultant prescribed but the hospital pharmacy refused to dispense.

We're sorry that this was your experience, as it is not the standard of care to which we aspire. We would also like to do something about it by taking the issue further - if you are willing to help us. All you need do is provide us with your details, along with that of the date and time of your outpatients appointment - just send the information to us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net. Once we have this, we can start looking in to why you received this sub-standard level of care from these particular staff members and take the necessary steps to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
