What could be improved

i could not believe there wasnt any hand wash at all when i entered the hospital, and i couldnt find any untill i was in the ward, they say about eliminating the risk of the noro virus but how can we do this if there isnt any handwash.

Also i found blood on the toilet floor and before that i had to ask a nurse to clean a machine my dad was hooked to because there was blood on that.

Iknow they are all streched to the limit but i find this totally unaceptable and they should invest more in the hygeine of the hospital.

The nurses and doctors deserve more respect as they are doing all they can do help us surely there is something people can do to help them do their job aswell

Handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand gels have been found to be most effective when they are used immediately at the point of contact with patients, at the bedside or in a clinic. For this reason, and like hospitals around the country, we have followed national guidance in siting our hand gels on our wards where handbasins are also readily availble. Hand gels are not the most effective method of hand washing during outbreaks of Norovirus and the use of soap and water will always be recommended in these circumstances.

Our hospitals do attain high standards of cleanliness during regular checks but there may be isolated incidents where we could do better. We always encourage our patients and visitors to let us know when anything does not meet the high standards they would expect so that we can put it right straight away.
