"Outstanding Care, Exceptional Staff"

What I liked

At my first appointment at the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit I was diagnosed with an incomplete miscarriage and possible molar pregnancy.

I was fully involved in making decisions about my treatment and agreed with the doctor that I would wait a week to see if the miscarriage would progress of its own accord.

At my next appointment, and with no change in my condition, I agreed with the doctor that surgery was the best option and was offered an operation the following day.

When I arrived on the morning of the operation I was greeted by name by one of the nurses (without having to introduce myself) and instantly felt at ease and cared for. I was given my own room to wait in before the operation and recover in afterwards.

Every member of staff I came into contact with - the receptionists, sonographers, nurses, doctors, pre-theatre and theatre staff - treated me with sensitivity, dignity, compassion and respect.

After receiving the initial news that I had miscarried my husband and I were shown into a side room rather than being sent back to the main waiting area (which contained pregnant women and babies/young children). We really appreciated this.

The nurses and doctors continually checked if we had any questions about the diagnosis and treatment and we felt very much 'in the loop' throughout the whole process.

A big 'thank you' to all the staff that we encountered in the Early Pregnancy Assesment Unit (Ward G1) and in pre-theatre / theatre.

What could have been a very traumatic experience was bearable thanks to the staff.

The care I received was truly outstanding.

What could be improved

Nothing.
