"i found my experience quite distressing..."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

What I liked

under the circumstances i think the staff done their best.

What could be improved

lack of communication between departments -

1. taken down for surgery far too soon.

2. doctor on call at night took far too long to respond.

3. time to arrive at hospital far too early for afternoon surgery.

4. check earlier to see if blood results had arrived.

Anything else?

after surgery to remove my gall bladder at teatime approx., i began bleeding quite heavily during the night. the nursing staff stripped me and my bedding 4 times before a doctor finally arrived. by this time i was quite poorly and blood pressure low. eventually the bleeding ceased. i feel a doctor should have seen me a lot sooner.

as i was in for day surgery my bed was required for the next day, so i was taken home by a voluntary driver. i had to visit my G.P. with extensive bruising in my stomach, who then said i had an infection.

i obviously was one of the unlucky ones....

i was told to arrive at 11.00 am on the day of sugery, went down for surgery at approx. 4.45 pm. had to wait in the anti room for about half an hour before the operation commenced.

i found this half hour of waiting quite nerve racking.
