What I liked
Pre op assessment was first class in facilities and patient care.
Day of operation began in ward 18 - very clean and cared for with dignity and reassurrance.
Operation for Total Knee Replacement was total success, ward and new theater oustanding.
Most exceptional aspect of whole experience was the kind, supportive and outstanding dignity extended at at all times by the Surgeon and the staff.
Well done City General
What could be improved
Following Total Knee Replacement which went well, we had a brief time with physiotherapy to ensure good use of crutches before discharge
often this is done along the ward corridor with limited space.
Why not have an initial guidance session at pre op assessment, which could include valuable instruction on a posative schedule of post op exercise. Patients could be better informed and ready to start with a more posative attitude.
This would help to overcome the problem of stiff joints along with associated difficulties.
Who would purchase a car without being aware of its service needs and how to meet them ?
Anything else?
From being a nervous and apprehensive patient, I am convinced by personal experience that at the General Hospital you will be in the best of hands.
