"Community District Nurses of Portsmouth"

About: Portsmouth City Teaching PCT / District nursing

(as a carer),

My Dad who had cancer, needed the Community District Nurses of Portsmouth to come and do a dressing for him. It started off as every other day, to needing them to come every day, 7 days a week.

Dad came under Red Team. There are 6 different Nurses in this team, and they are very dedicated at what they do. Not only did they put dad at ease but they offered support and advice to me as I was dad's palliative carer for 8 weeks.

I want to tell the people of Portsmouth they are so lucky that whether it's Red, Yellow, or Blue Team or even the Twilight shift, they are very lucky to have such a Lovely, Caring, dedicated team of district nurses.

My dad was so lucky - it was a wonderful experience for us both.

I cannot thank them enough, nothing was too much trouble...

Sadly my dad died, on a beautiful sunny afternoon in March. It was to be expected, but a shock all the same.

It's been 3 weeks now, and my dads funeral is this Thursday. It will be hard for his family and friends. It's our last goodbye and a salute to our dad, who was a man of Honour, Courage and the Brave.
