"The last thing I need is a load of kids running around"

About: Ashley House

(as a service user),

I would just like to mention the majority of times when I have come to Ashley House for treatment or even in some cases for a meeting and the amount of times there is children here. I come here for treatment because I get very stressed and suffer from depression and the last thing I need is a load of kids running around. I mean it’s ok if they’re here for treatment but it is just not fair on people in for treatment and me I’m not particularly fond of children and find them very irritating and it sometimes stops me from coming to Ashley House and why should I stop coming and halting my recovery.

I am sorry that you experienced problems when you attend Ashley House. We try to ensure that we are able to offer services and engage with clients from all groups and that includes those who have child care responsibilities.

We are trying to get a balance between clinical interventions that take place within Ashley House and the building being accessible for all. We are aware of the issue you raise and as such our child visiting policy is in the process of being reviewed and we do undertake actions, such as home visits if parents have difficulty attending to see us. Thank you for your comments and I will ensure your posting is discussed at the managers meeting next week.
