TTP at Ashley house

(as the patient),

I went into treatment at TTP in October 2010 for a total of 14 weeks. This programme gave me a great introduction to recovery and the 12 step programme. It has recently been confirmed that TTP will cease to operate in Halton from mid April 2011 and I feel that this is a real shame for people suffering from substance misuse problems in the Halton area. In my opinion this could present a significant relapse risk for those service users who are already on the 12 week programme or in the pre-treatment stages. I also think this could limit treatment options for potential service users in the future.

I would like to know if any service provision will be made for those service users still in treatment between now and October 2011 (when the new provider will take over at Ashley House) and what will happen for newcomers between now and then coming through the doors at Ashley House looking to commence on a recovery programme?

its great to know that the service users here have a voice.

all the teams in ashley house are working hard to make sure that any changes to service provision here will be minimal, the DAAT commissioner and HBC are currently undertaking work to continue treatment provisions in the interim period. hopefully we will have a more robust answer for you within the next few days. This work is being completed as quickly and transparently as possible, The DAAT commissioner chaired a meeting of TTP service users and ashley house volunteers to answer any questions yesterday, we sincerely hope you were able to attend this meeting we invited as many people as possible. if you were unable to attended we are happy to give feedback from the meeting! our hope is that any changes to service provision in the interim period are minimal to ashley house service users and that recovery will always be an option for new service users.

First of all can I thank everyone who attended the meeting last Thursday to discuss how we will be taking forward the Abstinence & Recovery service in the next few months. It was a great example of how we can all work together to improve your services here in Halton.

The Drug Action Team received a number of bids for this contract last week. We are now in the process of making a recommendation to senior managers in the Council regarding which organisation will be continuing to run this service once TTP’s contract finishes on the 15th April.

I will post that decision on this website as soon as I am able.

In the meantime I would like to reassure you again that we are working as quickly as we can to resolve this situation and to make sure that you have the best help and support possible.
