Yesterday I had an appointment with a back pain specialist at the Oaks Unit.
I explained that I was in pain when walking, sitting, going to the gym.
They asked me if I still went to the gym even though I was clearly experiencing pain
I replied yes
to which they said "Well I just don't get that - if you're in pain why are you going to the gym". I then felt I was interrogated, as if I was lying about my symptoms?
I'm sorry but why do people drink knowing full well they are going to get a hangover, why do athletes run through the pain barrier, why do soldiers go out to fight knowing they may get hurt?
Just because you don't get it, doesn't make it wrong! and you have the nerve to have posters telling patients to please treat staff with respect... truly ironic
"Judgemental attitude of the doctor"
