"Referral to a consultant"

(as the patient),

I phoned DART to book an appointment to see a consultant at the RD&E. I have been abroad and need to see the consultant so I can go back on the medication I was on before.

The woman I spoke to was very slow and it took a while to check my data only to be told there were no appointments. The best she could do was to put me on a waiting list, with no idea how long I could be waiting for.

Now I have to wait for the hospital to contact me which is how it used to be before DART. I am left frustrated at not having an appointment and wondering what it is that DART does.
