"I found the food inedible"

I found patient food was 'you get what they served'. I didn’t have any menu choice and in my opinion a lot of the food was either rubbish or inedible. Brown water tasting of nothing but salt was supposed to be Oxtail. Red water with I slice of carrot, one pea & five strands of thin noodles was supposed to be Minestrone! Two pork chops served up with tinned potatoes and peas were worse than shoe leather, I don’t even think a dog would be able to chew these without breaking teeth.

How are patients supposed to gain strength if they are served this type of food?

The Canteen down the corridor however, served delicious, restaurant quality food to staff and visitors every day. Too bad if you were patient who couldn't get down there! The only change to a patient’s meals had to come from a Nutritionist, but there wasn't one whilst I was there.

I got the impression that the nurses seemed incapable of doing anything without the OK from a Doctor. A patient who was being sick had obviously thrown up a pain killer, asked a different nurse later on for another pain killer. He was denied this on the grounds that this particular nurse had not seen the tablet being thrown up! The patient was left in pain until a Doctor could come up and authorise another one three hours later
