"I remember the kind friendly staff more..."

About: Princess Anne Hospital

What I liked

The care I received when I had my son was outstanding from the minute my husband and I entered the labour ward. I encountered 3 different midwives and a student midwife who were all very kind, helpful and patient. I was given an ensuite room, encouraged to have a bath and given a birthing ball to bounce on! I was never left on my own for more than a few minutes and with the support of the midwives I managed to give birth without any medical intervention and I achieved a vaginal birth after having previously had a ceasarian with my first child. I found the Broadlands ward to be very comfortable and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. I was encouraged to stay as long as I wanted to and was offered lots of help with the care of my son .

What could be improved

My only criticism of this hospital was the sonographer I had for my 12 week scan. She was very rude and unfriendly. Thankfully I had someone else for my 20 week scan who was quite the opposite.

Anything else?

The tv show seems to make it look like the staff are constantly in the staff room and leaving the mums to it. that is definitely not what I experienced. My midwife stayed for 2 hours beyond the time she was supposed to finish and the student stayed even longer.Opening hoursPatient careMidwifeRude

Thanks for your comments – we’re really glad to hear you had an overall positive experience especially as we have been working hard to support women to have a vaginal birth after Caesarean (VBAC). Although your visits were some time ago we will still follow up your feedback with our sonography team.
