"Hypothyroid"

About: Newham PCT

(as the patient),

Even though I diagnosed my own thyroid condition after much internet research my doctor laughed when I requested a thyroid blood test.

Eventually they said that she wouldn't prescribe a blood test but that if i really wanted to I could ask the gyni I needed to see (about another problem). By that time, I could hardly walk as the blood supply to my feet had reduced, and I could hardly manage to articulate my words as my metabolism was so slow. Every word was difficult to get out of my mouth, but I managed very slowly and deliberately to ask the gyni for a thyroid test.

It was discovered that I was severely hypothyroid.

My doctor made me feel like a nuisance, that I was just wasting their time with my petty complaints. I very rarely used to see the doctor as I was fit and active but approaching the time that I was becoming severly ill I went several times for such things as repeated coldsores, and the headaches that had ruined my life for the previous ten years. I would leave the doctor's surgery apologising.

I am disgusted with what I feel is a uncaring attitude from my doctor
